Darin Epsilon continues to find success with “big tracks”

Lauren Krieger

Darin Epsilon on creating successful releases, the state of the industry, and performing at SXSW.

Darin Epsilon has been a dominant force in the industry for years, continually releasing popular and top rated tracks on his own Perspectives Digital label as well as other premiere labels across the underground electronic music world. His Perspectives show on FRISKY hosts some of the best DJs in the industry, with new and exciting music always at the forefront. Darin currently has multiple tracks on the Beatport Progressive House & Techno Top 100 list, proving that he’s not close to slowing down yet.

Cid Inc vs. Darin Epsilon – “Outliers” is out now on his imprint Perspectives Digital and includes a remix by world-renowned producer Petar Dundov. In April, Beatport will host the official remix contest to “Outliers,” with the winner receiving a variety of prizes including a free copy of the Sasha Soundlab by Audio Raiders, Beatport store credit, a subscription to ReleasePromo.com, and much more. Darin has also released a remix of Omid 16B’s “Nu1” for Sudbeat and an original called “Feel Right” featuring Amber Long for Perfecto.

This month will also see Darin’s debut at South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, performing alongside legendary artists Paul Oakenfold, Hernan Cattaneo & Nick Warren.

I caught up with Darin for a few quick questions about his experiences:

What motivates you to continue producing so consistently and at such a high level?

Thanks!!  Well, I’ve had a genuine appreciation for the music since the 90’s and I try to be a good role model for other producers.  It’s extremely important in this day and age to have those “big tracks” because it’s the only way to move forward at this point.

How do you balance between writing for your own Perspectives Digital and the other exceptional labels that you are a part of?

Perspectives is my home base but I occasionally release on other labels for various reasons, such as to build interest in another part of the world, or to branch out musically and explore different sounds.  If you listen to my releases on Perfecto and Re*Brand, you’ll notice they’re completely different than my usual sound.  It’s just another way for people to hear my full range as a musician.

What excites you about the underground electronic music industry currently?

Thanks to Frisky and other sites like SoundCloud and YouTube, you can travel to anywhere in the world now and run into people that are educated about the music.  For example, I played in Mauritius and Indonesia last winter and was blown away by their level of excitement and enthusiasm!

What can the audience expect from you at SXSW next weekend?

I’m getting around 100 promos a day now so hopefully there will be some gold nuggets to play.  Definitely will have some new material by myself and Perspectives Digital.  I’ve never played Austin before so just gonna go with the flow 🙂
