ANNA’s momentum continues rolling with global tours, major releases, and a FRISKY feature.

ANNA is one of those artists who takes the electronic music world by storm, propelled into the spotlight through her hard work, distinctive style, and ingrained love of the music. At 14 years old, she knew the music was her destiny, and she has been proving that to fans and peers around the world since. Born qyZCuyqauYXxmksZev03X0XK3ssu9T4oBW7cYWuNzDsin Brazil and based in Barcelona, ANNA has been making waves across the globe, performing to packed crowds in countries including Germany, Israel, and China, where her experience behind the decks and passion for the music translates to massive shows everywhere.

Beginning with early support from Christian Smith and his renowned Tronic label, ANNA’s productions have continued to impress. Her tracks have been released on labels such as Yoshitoshi, Toolroom Records, Circus Recordings, Terminal M, and many more, receiving support from DJs such as Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Damian Lazarus, and Pete Tong, and repeatedly ending up on the Beatport Top 10 list.

It’s obvious that ANNA won’t be slowing down any time soon, her dedication to the music never subsiding. This week, ANNA will be featured as FRISKY’s Artist of the Week, with an exclusive 2 hour mix broadcast to underground electronic music fans around the world. I was glad to grab a moment to catch up with her, to learn more about her life and to get ready for the mix:

What was your first experience with electronic music like?

My father owned a club with 5 floors, one of them used to feature electronic music, like house, drum & bass, techno, so it was there that I had my first contact with that sort of music. I’ve started out by playing Brazilian folk music, I was only 14 years old, and I was the DJ of one of those floors, which played that style. I used to play every weekend for around 7, 8 hours, and sometimes I’d ask somebody to take over so I could go to the toilet, but instead I would go down to the underground floor because I was really into it.

What has been your favorite experience as a DJ so far?

This summer I played at Space Ibiza for Carl Cox’s night ‘Revolution.’ It was a dream which finally came true so this was probably my favorite experience to play on an event for a DJ which I’ve always looked up to.

I have some remixes coming up that I really enjoyed working on, for DJ Tonio on Suara and the classic Psycho X-Girlfriend on Yoshiotshi, and I am looking forward my next EP on Terminal M with a track a little bit different from what I am used to do, it is more melodic and progressive, it is called Redemption.

How would you describe your music in one sentence?

I think my music is right at the cusp where tech house becomes more techno, it’s dark yet groovy.

What can listeners look forward to hearing on your mix?

I’ve tried to create a journey and to tell a story with this mix, it starts deep and melodic, and it gets more and more energetic until the end. I’ve included some of my highlight tracks of this year, and also some artists that I am really into at the moment, I hope you enjoy and have a good time listening to it.

This is definitely one you won’t want to miss!
