FRISKY Talk 011: Danny Howells

Lauren Krieger

Danny Howells has been making a global impact on the electronic music scene for decades, with a story that continues to leave a lasting mark. Beginning his DJ career by opening up for John Digweed at his Bedrock club nights in 1991, he quickly accelerated to global fame through his legendary mix and compilation albums including Global Underground’s Nubreed 002 and GU027 Miami, Nocturnal Frequencies, Renaissance: Revelation, and Balance 024.

After spending many years running his record label Dig Deeper, avidly producing, and restlessly touring, Danny began to reevaluate and reflect his relationship with the music and living. We talk about this transition and much more, including the evolution of the DJ role, discovering and sharing timeless tracks, finding the groove, having the right to speak your voice, and his latest project 3D with Darren Emerson and Dave Seaman. This was such a wonderful, heartfelt, and inspirational talk that covers a wide range of topics, all tied together with Danny’s love for what he does.
